Police Records

The primary function of the Records Division is storage, retention, destruction, and retrieval of both electronic and manual records including criminal arrest records, police reports, accident reports, and alarm permits.  Other duties include department statistical reporting and uniform crime reporting.

The Records Division's hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  The division is located at the Little Elm Public Safety Building in the main lobby on the first floor.

The services offered are records requests, local criminal record checks and alarm permits.

Open Record Requests

The Public Information Act governs information that a governmental body collects, assembles, or maintains and states that the information is, in general, either open to all members of the public or closed to all members of the public.

To request police records, you can complete the online request for information or complete and print the request for information .

Local Criminal Records Check

This is a request for any criminal records filed with the Little Elm Police Department.  The request for information form must be returned in person and a valid driver's license or other official photo ID is required.  The request will take between 3-5 business days to process.

Crash Reports

To obtain an accident report in person or by mail, complete a request for information and return the form to the records division along with payment of $6 (cash or check only).  Checks should be made payable to the Town of Little Elm. 

Crash reports are usually available 3-5 business days after the accident.

The CR-2, or a "blue form," can be completed by a driver of a vehicle involved in a crash that is not investigated by a law enforcement agency.  Additionally, the blue form can only be used when there is no injury to any person involved in the crash and the value of damaged property is not in excess of $1,000.  More information regarding the blue form's use is located on teh first page of the form.
