Marine Patrol
Public Safety Marine Patrol Unit

The Town of Little Elm Public Safety Marine Patrol Unit is staffed by a crew consisting of Town of Little Elm Police Officers and Firefighters. The Officers and Firefighters serving on the Unit receive specialized training and serve in the unit as an “extra-duty” assignment, when needed. The Marine Patrol Unit is most visible during the summer months and during special events on or around the lake.

Officers and Firefighters patrol the Lewisville Lake waterways on a boat and personal watercraft and they perform many safety functions, such as; conducting boat inspections, enforcing boating laws, monitoring marine vehicle operations, towing stranded boats back to the dock or ramp, watching for navigational problems, investigating accidents and assisting boaters when needed. In the event an accident does occur, the Marine Patrol Unit is there to render aid, investigate the accident and complete the required state reports.

In addition to the patrol and enforcement aspects, the Marine Patrol Unit is also tasked with public education on safe boating. The Marine Patrol Unit provides literature and presentations at public functions where they welcome citizens to come aboard to tour the vessel and get a look at the equipment used by the Unit.  The Little Elm Police and Fire Departments are committed to ensuring you have a safe and enjoyable boating season.
