Support Services Division
Detective Division
In the Detective Division, there are four detectives, each assigned to specific duties. One handles crimes against persons, one handles crimes against property, a third handles all crimes involving juveniles and gangs, and the last handles all sex offender and sex-related crimes, along with the oversight of the property and evidence room.

Community Services / Crime Prevention Division 
Community Services also encompasses crime prevention and is staffed by one sergeant. This duty consists of:
  • Arranging tours of the Police Department
  • Making or arranging for presentations to the community
  • Organizing National Night Out
  • Ordering all materials and give-away items used during community events
  • Serving as liaison between the Police Department and other departments during major events, such as July Jubilee
  • Assorted other duties

This position also handles crime prevention and works with neighborhoods to form and maintain neighborhood watch groups, business watch groups, homeowners insurance inspections, and other duties. Officers sign up to help with large assignments on an as-needed and as-available basis.

Records Division
The records clerk maintains all the criminal files and citations for both juveniles and adults, as well as all accident reports that occur within the jurisdiction of Little Elm.
