The Little Elm Police Department Patrol Division is the largest and most visible aspect of the department. The Patrol Division will normally be the first responder to any call for service that is generated and dispatched through the Denton County Sheriff’s Office Communication Center. The Patrol Division generally conducts the preliminary investigation of most calls for service and if necessary forwards the reports to the Investigative Division for further follow-up.
The Patrol Division works 12 hours shifts providing complete coverage to the citizens of Little Elm 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
The patrol officer is generally the first, and sometimes the only, contact citizens have with a police department. For this reason, patrol officers are highly trained, receiving in-service instruction on a continuous basis which develops skills needed to provide the best service possible.
